Independent projects in Scotland that work with youth orchestras: 

A project which uses music in an attempt to steer deprived children away from a life of crime could be piloted in one of Stirling’s poorest areas. Raploch, Stirling, is to become the focus of a bold new scheme, based on a Venezuelan model, which uses intensive classical music training to get children off the streets – and change their lives. “We believe that you should be able to do whatever you want to do, wherever you come from – and we are going to provide the tools to help that happen,” said Nicola Killean, director of the project.
